A women-led movement for compassion, peace, and a future full of possibility.

YWCA South Sudan has served communities for over 20 years as a trusted advocate for women’s rights and social justice. Since its establishment, the organization has expanded its reach across multiple states, implementing humanitarian and development programmes that promote gender equality, peace, economic empowerment, protection, health, education, and community resilience through strong partnerships. Projects completed: YWCA South Sudan has successfully implemented numerous donor-funded projects in gender-based violence prevention and response, women’s empowerment, peacebuilding, psychosocial support, WASH, youth leadership, governance, humanitarian response, and community resilience. These interventions have strengthened local institutions, improved livelihoods, enhanced protection, and promoted inclusive participation across diverse communities

Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) addresses inequality, promotes women’s rights, and strengthens community resilience across South Sudan.

Women’s Leadership and Empowerment

YWCA South Sudan empowers women and girls to become confident leaders and active participants in decision-making at community and national levels. Through leadership training, mentorship, civic engagement, and advocacy, the organization strengthens women’s voices in governance,

Youth Development and Civic Engagement

YWCA equips young women and men with leadership, life, and employability skills that enable them to contribute positively to society. Through mentorship, civic education, volunteerism, entrepreneurship, and peacebuilding initiatives, young people develop confidence, strengthen social responsibility, and actively participate 

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Response

YWCA implements comprehensive GBV prevention and response programmes that protect women and girls from violence, exploitation, and abuse. Services include awareness campaigns, survivor-centred referrals , community dialogues

Disability Inclusion and Social Inclusion

YWCA promotes equal participation of persons with disabilities and other marginalized groups in humanitarian and development programmes. The organization works to eliminate barriers to inclusion by improving accessibility, supporting disability rights advocacy, promoting inclusive education and livelihoods

Capacity Building and Institutional Strengthening

YWCA strengthens the capacity of community-based organizations, women’s groups, youth networks, and local institutions through training, mentoring, organizational development, governance support, financial management, monitoring and evaluation and resource mobilization.These efforts enhance local ownership, improve service delivery

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

YWCA improves community health by implementing WASH programmes that increase access to safe water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education. Activities include hygiene promotion, construction and rehabilitation of water facilities, sanitation campaigns, menstrual hygiene management, and community awareness

Our Sustainability Strategy

YWCA South Sudan is committed to ensuring the longterm sustainability of its programmes through strong partnerships, institutional capacity strengthening, resource mobilization, and community ownership. The organization diversifies funding sources by engaging donors, government, the private sector, and individual supporters while investing in staff development and robust governance systems. YWCA also promotes local leadership, evidence-based programming, and continuous learning to ensure that interventions remain effective, resilient, and responsive to the evolving needs of women, girls, youth, and vulnerable communities across South Sudan.
